Since I changed my endocrinilogist last year, I’ve really been happy with my experiences with Dr. K. She’s the kind of doctor that means business but doesn’t come off as if she’s judging you. She tells you what she thinks, but leaves it up to you what to do. So usually, I’m fairly excited (yes, I said excited) about...
In the past three nights, I’ve seen the same diabetes pattern. At 10:30pm, I suddenly drop. All three times have been a little over an hour after a meal and roughly seven hours after my afternoon Lantus injection. I stay low for a few hours and after several treatments, I pop up to the 140 range (or the 200s like last night).

Yesterday I posted on Facebook that I felt guilty for having not exercised two days in a row. I was feeling kind of down (TAXES!) and knew that a good morning walk would likely help me feel better. But something funky was going on with me last night. I did not expect my sugar to be so wild after dinner and I worked hard to get it in an acceptable...
I’m feeling a strange mix of emotions these past few days. Maybe it’s getting back home from my European extravaganza. Or maybe it’s just a normal emotional procedure for the place that I’m at in life.

Today was my last dermatology appointment for the Accutane. I’m a mixture of excited and sad. I’m excited because the Accutane has been such a hassle. Monthly doctor’s appointments and blood draws, debilitating side effects, and just the stress of putting this into my system. So now it’s over. Awesome.

Sometimes, when Susanne gets up in the middle of the night to test Charlie’s blood sugar, I listen for the snap of the spring and the pop of the needle. Sometimes I just have a bad feeling and I prepare myself for those three words that I hate to hear – “He’s really high.” Sometimes the anticipation is awful.
